  The Raku Firing Process

My raku kiln, built out of two 55 gallon drums, lined with ceramic fiber. I fire to around 2000 degrees fahrenheit.

The kiln is wenched up to allow me to get to pieces.

Piece is put into a "nest" of hay, with metal tongs.

Piece is covered with another barrel, which causes a reduction. Piece is taken out later and washed off.
 
The Wood Firing Process

Click to view larger image. My wood and propane kiln, after throwing some wood into it. I fire to 2250 degrees fahrenheit, in about 10 to 12 hours.
